Heatshield Products Muffler Armor(TM) uses our BioCool thermal barrier material to withstand 18-F of continuous heat, which helps reduce radiant heat from mufflers by up to 7 percent. It installs easily and securely using the included stainless steel locking Thermal-Tie(TM) or HP Power Anchor(TM) depending on which kit you order. This muffler shield is both water and chemical resistant for increased durability and longevity. Heat from the car's mufflers can be conducted through the floorboards and increase the interior temperatures to uncomfortable levels. For more rearward mounted mufflers, that same heat can raise trunk temps where there is little or no airflow to help release the heat. In addition to cooking whatever you are carrying in your trunk, if you have a trunk mounted fuel cell, that heat can elevate fuel temps and hurt performance, along with increasing the risk of vapor lock. Besides reducing temperatures in the passenger and trunk compartment of your car, Muffler Armor(TM) keeps the heat in the muffler, helping to maintain high exhaust gas temperatures. This increases exhaust flow velocity, helping to improve engine efficiency and performance. Muffler Armor can also be used on catalytic converters, by covering just the top half of the converter or muffler you allow the exhaust to breath but significantly reduce the heat transmitted up into the vehicle.
