When should I replace my motorcycle chain?
Replace a motorcycle chain when it has stretched beyond its wear limit (typically 3mm of stretch over a 20-link span), shows stiff links, has O-rings missing or damaged, or when you replace the sprockets. Always replace chain and sprockets together — a new chain on worn sprockets (or vice versa) accelerates wear significantly.
O-ring vs X-ring vs XW-ring — what is the difference?
O-ring chains use round rubber seals to retain grease in the pin-bushing interface. X-ring seals have lower friction than O-rings. XW-ring (RK's designation) combines the benefits of both — lower friction than O-ring with excellent sealing. For performance applications, XW-ring is the preferred specification.
