Why does my EcoBoost or GDI engine need a catch can?
GDI (direct injection) engines don't wash intake valves with fuel — oil vapor from the PCV system builds up on intake valves as carbon deposits over time. A catch can intercepts this vapor before it enters the intake, dramatically reducing valve carbon buildup and the expensive walnut blasting service required to clean it.
How often does a J&L catch can need to be emptied?
