Why do I need a wideband O2 sensor for tuning?
The factory narrowband O2 sensor only reports whether the mixture is rich or lean — it cannot provide an accurate AFR reading across the full tuning range. A wideband O2 controller uses a Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor that measures AFR accurately from 10:1 to 20:1 — giving the tuner and driver real-time and logged AFR data for safe, accurate fuel map development. For any ECU tuning work, a wideband is considered essential equipment.
Innovate vs AEM wideband — which is better?
Both Innovate and AEM use the same Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor — accuracy is equivalent between brands.
