Why does a diesel truck need a FASS system?
Modern diesel injection systems — particularly the Bosch CP4 pump used in 2011–2019 Duramax and 2014+ Power Stroke — require extremely clean, well-pressurized fuel. Canadian diesel can contain varying amounts of water and particulates, particularly in winter. The factory fuel filtration is adequate for stock use but marginal for modified trucks drawing more fuel. A FASS lift pump pre-filters fuel, removes entrained air and water, and supplies the injection system at consistent pressure — protecting injection components that cost thousands of dollars to replace.
Is FASS required for a diesel performance tune?
Not strictly required, but strongly recommended for modified diesel trucks — particularly those with Bosch CP4 injection pumps.
