Wastegate springs are colour-coded for a reason

A TiAL wastegate's spring sets your base boost — the pressure the gate will hold with no control signal at all — and the springs are colour-coded by pressure, stackable to combine ratings. Fit too soft a spring and the gate creeps open early, so the turbo never reaches target and no amount of boost controller will fix it. Fit too stiff a spring and you cannot run low boost when you want to.

Size matters as much: a gate too small for the turbo will not vent enough exhaust and boost will climb past target at high rpm. The MV-S, MV-R and 44mm bodies exist to suit different exhaust flows, not different budgets.

On the intake side, Q, QR and QRJ blow-off valves cover vent-to-atmosphere and recirculating — and if your car meters air with a MAF, it needs the recirculating version.
