Best Performance Upgrades for Honda Civic in Canada
The Honda Civic is Canada's best-selling car — and the Civic Si and Type R are among the country's most modifiable sport compacts. All of the below are available at MyPartsGuy.ca priced in CAD with no duties.
Cold Air Intake
The 1.5T responds meaningfully to improved airflow. A K&N 63-Series AirCharger or aFe Takeda intake replaces the restrictive OEM airbox. On the 1.5T, expect 8–12 hp on a stock tune. The Type R's K20C1 responds similarly.
Performance Brake Pads
For base Civic and Si owners: Hawk HPS 5.0 front pads deliver better bite and fade resistance than OEM without compromise in daily use. Type R track day drivers should consider Hawk HP Plus — maintains grip where stock pads fade after 3–4 hard laps.
Lowering Springs
Eibach Pro-Kit springs for the Civic drop the car approximately 25–30mm with a progressive rate that handles Canadian road imperfections well. The visual transformation is significant — stock Civics sit with noticeable wheel gap that Eibach eliminates.
Coilovers
KW Variant 2 or Variant 3 coilovers are available for the Civic platform. The Variant 2's rebound adjustment is particularly popular on the Si and Type R. Bilstein B14 coilovers are a strong value option.
Mishimoto Cooling — Type R Specific
Civic Type R owners pushing their FK8 on track frequently encounter heat soak with the OEM intercooler. Mishimoto's Type R intercooler is a direct-fit upgrade that significantly reduces charge air temperatures for consistent power through extended hard driving.
